One lane of US 36 closed between Estes Park and Pinewood Springs now through the holidays

December 18, 2013 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Motorists urged to plan extra travel time.

BOULDER, LARIMER, AND WELD COUNTIES — Effective immediately and lasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week through at least Friday, January 3, CDOT has closed the western lane of US 36 near mile marker 10 north of Pinewood Springs and south of Estes Park. The temporary roadway is in significant need of repairs at the location, where the hillside beneath the highway has degraded and the roadway is no longer stable. In the interest of motorist safety, the lane will be closed until emergency repairs can be made after the New Year holiday.

Motorists should be prepared for a single lane of alternating traffic 24/7 via traffic signal or flaggers with delays of up to 15 minutes expected. Drivers are encouraged to build extra travel time into their schedules.
