Virginia Dale Rest Area Reopens

May 22, 2014 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - LARIMER COUNTY - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has reopened the Virginia Dale Rest Area for the summer. It is located about two miles south of the Colorado/Wyoming state line.

Closed since September 2013, the rest area generally opens by Memorial Day. Virginia Dale is a popular spot for those heading in and out of Wyoming, and features restrooms and a picnic area for travelers.

The rest area is expected to remain open through September, unless unfavorable weather forces CDOT to close the area early. Each year, CDOT crews closes the rest area to prevent the water pipes from freezing, and due to Colorado’s unpredictable weather, temperatures can get below freezing in the fall.
