Independence Pass Closed for the Season

November 12, 2014 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Adverse weather prompted crews to close a few days early.

LAKE/PITKIN COUNTIES –Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews locked the gates on Independence Pass today due to adverse weather causing icy, snow packed conditions. With the forecast calling for continued adverse weather over the next few days the pass will remain closed for the season.

ALTERNATE ROUTE: The alternate route to Aspen during the months the pass is closed is I-70 to Glenwood Springs, and SH 82 into Aspen.
