CDOT Completes Bridge Rehab on Westbound I-70 at 32nd Avenue Early

December 18, 2014 - Metro Denver Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - On Sunday, Dec. 7, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) mobilized an emergency bridge rehabilitation on westbound I-70 at 32nd Avenue, following a mirror bridge rehabilitation on the eastbound structure.

CDOT completed the westbound bridge rehab today, a day ahead of schedule. The emergency bridge rehab will ultimately extend the life of the structure for 10-15 years.

“We are first and foremost public servants. It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of the traveling public, which is why we mobilized and rehabbed the bridge in both directions working on a 24-hour work schedule,” said Tony DeVito, CDOT Region Transportation Director. “We know that this emergency bridge rehab had a major impact on motorists and appreciate their patience as we got this important work done.”

The emergency rehab on the westbound I-70 bridge at 32nd Avenue began on Sunday, Dec. 7, as crews worked a 24-hour schedule through today, with a pause from Friday, Dec. 12, through Sunday, Dec. 14, to accommodate for area shopping and activities along with mountain travel. This bridge was originally part of a larger $1.9 million bridge rehab project that was slated to begin in spring of 2015.
