Overnight lane, ramp closures coming Thursday night on I-25, US 6

January 14, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region 1 - Crews will pour the deck on a new bridge at the northbound I-25 off-ramps to US 6.

DENVER – Overnight on Thursday, Jan. 15, crews on the Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) US 6 Bridges Design Build Project will pour the concrete deck for a new bridge that spans the railroad tracks to provide access to both directions of US 6 from northbound I-25. To complete this work, crews need to close the right three lanes on northbound I-25 and the off-ramp to both directions of US 6 from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

“These efforts will allow the opportunity to complete other critical work around this new bridge,” said Kevin Sullivan, CDOT Project Director. “We ask drivers to be patient and alert when driving through the area on Thursday night.”

In addition to the I-25 closures Thursday night, drivers can expect a temporary closure of the northbound Santa Fe Drive on-ramp to northbound I-25 between the hours of 10 p.m. and midnight to prevent lengthy backups on this ramp.

Further west along the project corridor, there will also be a double right lane closure on westbound US 6 near Federal Boulevard on Thursday night for waterline work. Crews will also close the Federal Boulevard on-ramp to westbound US 6 in conjunction with these activities. This work will begin at about 10 p.m. and be complete by 5 a.m.

TRAVEL IMPACTS:

Northbound I-25 to westbound US 6 detour: Motorists should take 8th Avenue west to Federal Boulevard, then use the Federal Boulevard on-ramp to westbound US 6.

Northbound I-25 to eastbound US 6 detour: Motorists should exit at 8thAvenue and go east to Kalamath Street, then south on Kalamath to access eastbound 6th Avenue.
