Second Phase of Work to Begin on US 85 North of Ault

July 1, 2015 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - Next phase of project begins with further improvements to road surface.

WELD COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin the second phase of resurfacing work to increase traveler safety on US 85 from Ault to the Wyoming state line on July 20.

Since the first phase began June 15, crews have made significant progress on the project. Several steps toward resurfacing the roadway have been completed such as embankment work for the shoulder widening areas between CR 94 to CR98 and at CR 108 and pothole repair.

Work on the shoulders will continue from CR 94 going north through Nunn.  Improvements at CR 100 will start shortly after July 4th, which will include the closing of Lincoln Street in Nunn at CR 100.  Full Depth Reclamination (FDR) and paving will start at MP 301.0 (near Rockport) and proceeding south, mid to late July.

TRAVEL IMPACTS: Travelers should expect delays up to 15 minutes during the road improvements. Pilot cars will direct travelers through several single-lane closures spanning up to two miles each throughout the project site. Construction work hours will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Speed limits through the project zone will be reduced to 40 mph at all times when FDR starts, including nights and weekends, due to uneven lanes and gravel roads. Width restrictions of 12 feet will be in place during working hours. Motorists should exercise caution at all times while navigating the work zone.
