Full closure of SH 141 near Whitewater scheduled next week

September 8, 2015 - Northwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 3 - Safety critical work on railroad crossing being performed.

MESA COUNTY/WHITEWATER —Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) crews will be working with a specialty unit of the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) to perform safety critical repair work to rails that run on SH 141 near Whitewater. The 12-hour closure will begin on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m.-Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 a.m.

The UPRR will be removing track, grading the ballast, installing the new concrete crossing panels then relaying and testing the track.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: On Thursday, CDOT maintenance crews will be paving the highway where the work was performed.  While paving, there will be single-lane alternating traffic, full stops of up to 20 minutes may be required during phases of the repaving operation. Uniformed traffic control will be on scene to assist.

Please see the attached alternate route map that is available although the travel time is lengthy. Mesa County EMS services, local law enforcement and Colorado State Patrol have been advised of the closure and have incident management plans in place.
