Emergency Rockfall Mitigation Requires Closure of Hwy 8 Between C-470 and Morrison

October 23, 2015 - Denver Metro/CDOT Region1 - Jefferson County – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will perform emergency rockfall mitigation starting at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 23, requiring the closure of Highway 8/Morrison Road west of C-470 to Market Street in Morrison, CO.

It is anticipated the roadway will be closed for one hour.

The rock hazard is the size of a small vehicle. Wet weather and fluctuating temperatures are likely the cause of this instability.

“We are stewards of public safety on our roadways, which is why we take situations like this extremely seriously,” said Paul Jesaitis, CDOT Region 1 Transportation Director. “Luckily, our mitigation efforts will require only a short closure, which will lessen impacts to motorists in the area.”
