Overnight lane closures on the I-70 mountain corridor to improve pavement conditions before ski season

September 10, 2021 - Central/Eastern Colorado

Clear Creek County - While the weather is still warm, over the next two weeks, CDOT maintenance crews will repave a worn and heavily traveled stretch of eastbound Interstate 70.  Work will take place at night to minimize traffic impacts.

Lane closure schedule:

  • Single lane closure on eastbound I-70 in the Silver Plume area from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Wednesday nights for two weeks (Sept. 12 - 15  and  Sept. 19 - 22).  No lane closures Thursdays through the weekends. 
  • The first week of work, crews will mill the pavement and the second week they will re-pave the lane.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
