PARK COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation will postpone bridge replacement operations on US 285 over South Fork of South Platte between Fairplay and Antero Junction. To reduce impacts to I-70 detours following extended closures due to mudslides, CDOT has rescheduled construction on the US 285 bridge site until spring of 2022.

The project, located in Park County, began in late July 2021. There are three locations on the project (see map): Site A - US 285 at MP 172.2 to 172.5, Site B - CO 9 at MP 47.57 to MP 47.65, and Site C - CO 9 at MP 63.66 to MP 63.73.

Site A consists of one bridge replacement as well as relieving wetland impacts and redirecting streams. Additionally, the bridge maintenance consists of bridge rail and guardrail replacement, as well as roadway reconstruction for the bridge approach. Work will require a three month full closure on US 285 with an offsite detour utilizing CO 9 and US 24.This location will resume in Spring 2022.

Bridge maintenance at site B and C on CO 9 were completed in September 2021. Bridge maintenance at these locations consisted of bridge rail and guardrail replacement, as well as rebuilding the approaches to the bridge. This project will benefit motorists by making the bridge safer and improving the driving experience. Zak Dirt Inc. is the contractor for this project.
