Cameron Peak emergency culvert repair project to begin April 11

Travel Advisory

April 1, 2022 - Northeastern Colorado - Daytime single lane closures and shoulder closures expected off CO 14

Larimer County – The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work on the Cameron Peak emergency culvert repair project on April 11. The project is located in Larimer County, 30 miles northwest of Fort Collins on CO 14 from Mile Points 76.5 to 86. Mountain Constructors of Platteville has been selected for this project, with work expected to be completed this summer.

The project involves the replacement of three culverts on CO 14 at MP 76.8 and MP 86. Additionally, the project includes erosion control, asphalt patching, temporary road striping, precast concrete box culvert, reinforced concrete pipe and grouted boulder basin.

The Cameron Peak fire, first reported in August 2020, became the largest recorded wildfire in Colorado’s history, burning more than 200,000 acres. The emergency culvert repairs along CO 14 are necessary upgrades needed to accommodate the post-fire flows and protect the road infrastructure. Improvements at the existing culvert sites will allow water to flow unobstructed under the roadway. This project will benefit motorists by providing a safer highway when snow runoff or rainstorms occur.
