Nighttime detour in place on US Highway 50 for paving operations week of Aug 8

August 8, 2022 - Southeastern Colorado - August 8 - 10, motorists will encounter a detour from US 50 to Paul Harvey Boulevard

Pueblo County - Crews on the US 50 Overlay project between Bonforte Boulevard and Avondale, are beginning to mill and resurface near the railroad bridge at Mile Point 319. In order to safely perform operations, the roadway will be closed during nighttime hours Monday through Wednesday. Motorists will encounter a signed detour off of US 50 to Paul Harvey Blvd then onto William White Blvd and Pete Jimenez Parkway.

Traffic Impacts

August 8 -10, motorists will encounter a detour from US 50 to Paul Harvey Blvd.
Traffic impacts include:

  • Detour will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights.
  • Traffic fines will be doubled in the work zone.
  • Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zones, drive with caution, allow extra space between vehicles and give themselves extra travel time.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
