I-70 Floyd Hill to Chief Hosa Resurfacing

Project Complete!

On April 11, 2022, the Colorado Department of Transportation began the I-70 Floyd Hill to Chief Hosa Repaving project. Work on this project will improve driving conditions and safety along this 6.4-mile stretch of I-70 through asphalt repaving, guardrail replacement, culvert cleaning, signage, and striping. 

The project is expected to be completed in May 2023.

Project Benefits:

Work on this project will improve driving conditions and safety along this 6.4-mile stretch of I-70 by:

  • Repaving the entire project zone to address the deterioration of the pavement, leading to a smoother and safer driving experience.
  • Removing and replacing guardrail within the project limits.
  • Cleaning culverts and installing new signage and striping to meet current standards.

Work Schedule

  • Daytime hours: eastbound closures will take place between 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. and westbound closures will take place between 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Nighttime hours: eastbound closures will take place between 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. and westbound closures will take place between 6 p.m. - 6 a.m.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists should expect:

  • East and westbound single and double lane closures during working hours.
  • Full overnight ramp closures during on- and off-ramp paving and smoothness grinding operations at the following exits:
    • Beaver Brook/Floyd Hill (Exit 248)
    • El Rancho (Exit 251)
    • Chief Hosa (Exit 253)
