Property Removals

Before a structure can be demolished, a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) certified asbestos building inspector collects samples for asbestos-containing building materials. Lead-based paint, as well as any other waste materials that need to be removed prior to demolition, are collected and documented.  The methodology, results, and conclusions of this work are summarized in a Structure Survey Assessment Report (SSAR).  If asbestos-containing building materials require abatement, a permit is obtained from CDPHE.  All asbestos abatement work is strictly regulated by CDPHE and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and is removed using wet removal methods, spraying of materials that are friable (easily crumbled) or could become friable during removal.  As asbestos is removed, it is double bagged, loaded into trucks or dumpsters, and taken to an appropriately permitted disposal facility.  Once the asbestos abatement is complete, a final visual inspection and air clearance monitoring is conducted by a CDPHE certified air monitoring specialist.  Once the asbestos is removed, or if no asbestos was identified, a demolition permit is obtained from CDPHE prior to completing demolition activities.  After demolition is complete, a Structure Survey Completion Report (SSCR) is developed that summarizes the sampling, abatement and demolition activities.
