US 50 & CO 71 Intersection Improvements

About this Project

6. The project will take place on US Highway 50 and CO Highway 71/County Rd. 18 in Rocky Ford.

Work will include the installation of traffic signal equipment, poles, mast arms, vehicle detectors, closed circuit television cameras, signing, median islands and walls, asphalt, guardrail replacement and minor striping at the intersection. Work will also include minor widening to address intersection roadway alignment improvement and interconnection of the new traffic signal with BNSF Railroad gate system.

Project Benefits:

Traffic signals are a vital part of controlling traffic in a safe and efficient manner by providing regulated movement. Widening and alignment of the intersection will improve safety and operational performance at the intersection.

Project Schedule and Traffic Impacts:

• 24/7 no through traffic on CR 18 from US 50 to CO 202/CR FF. Local traffic only. This is a 6-month closure.
• The project will be in operation Monday through Friday
  from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• The anticipated completion date is late October, 2023.
